Contemporary Book Recs

Edit: I was suppose to post this in July, but completely forgot. Whoops. So here are contemporary recs in October even though most of these are cute summer reads.


Hello everyone! Today I will be recommending some of my favorite contemporary reads since summer is here, or at least it is summer where I live, and I love reading contemporary during this season. I really enjoyed all of these and hope that if you pick any of them up that you will too!


The first book I am recommending is Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West. Kasie West is a pretty well known for her fluffy YA contemporaries. Based on all the book I have read by her, they are either a hit or miss for me. Love, Life, and the List is my personal favorite and I absolutely devoured this book when I read it. We follow a girl name Abby who enters her artwork into this art show but gets rejected because apparently her art does not have enough heart. She creates a to do list in order to gain experiences and improve her art work throughout the summer. This book also has the friends to lovers trope which is quite a popular trope that people really enjoy. If you want something quick and easy to read, this is definitely the perfect book to read, especially for those who are wanting to get ahead of or catch up on on their reading challenge.


The next book is an older release and that is Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. Like Kasie West, Dessen is also another very popular YA contemporary author, yet I do not hear people talking about this book that often. In this book we follow the main character Auden as she spends her summer with her father and stepdaughter in a town called Colby. Auden is a straight A student and lives with her mother who works at a university resulting in Auden's life being very academic based. This book has a cute romance while also dealing with self discovery. I love how Sarah Dessen books are always realistic and the things that happen in them feel like they could happen in real life.


Another recommendation I have is Pride by Ibi Zoboi. This is a modern day Pride and Prejudice retelling that takes place in Brooklyn New York. We follow Zuri who is Afro-Latino. The rich Darcy family moves across the street and Zuri is not very happy about that. Her sister starts falling for one of the brothers and Zuri cannot stand the other brother Darius. There are so many similarities to the original story of Pride and Prejudice while at the same time having enough differences to make it its own story. It is a diverse read for those who are looking to diversify their reading as well.


The final book I am recommending in this post is Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. Morgan Matson is such a well known contemporary author and this one is one of my favorites of her works so far. I have read all of her books that are released so far and they are all really good. Since You've Been Gone follows a girl name Emily who is an introvert and is known as the friend of her best friend Sloane who is extremely extroverted. Her best friend leaves with no traces except for a to-do list for Emily to complete over the summer. She decides to complete the list in hopes of it giving her clues to where Sloane went. This was such a cute book and I actually ship the ship which does not usually happen.

Diverse Recommendations Pt. 1

Diversity has become a huge topic in the world today especially in the book community. I totally support diversity being a Chinese born American and thought I would recommend some of my favorite diverse reads. These are only some of them since I have so many more. Yes there will be a part two coming who knows when, but it will come.


The two books I am recommending are both by the same author and those books are Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and the Upside of Unrequited both by Becky Albertalli. Simon is becoming a movie called Love, Simon, which I am extremely excited to watch. Simon follows a boy name Simon who is not openly gay and the only person who knows is a boy he calls blue and they email each other constantly. This is such a cute book and I love it so much. The Upside of Unrequited follows a girl name Molly who has many unrequited crushes. This book is full of diversity and the main character has two moms. Both of these feature characters from the LGBTQ+ community and Upside has a Korean American or half Korean character. I don't remember but I do remember she is pansexual.


The next book I am recommending is George by Alex Gino and this book is a middle grade novel and it features a main character who is transgender. This book is about George and her school is having a play of Charlotte web and she wants to play Charlotte. The teacher however says she can't try out for the part because she is a boy. I love this book mainly for the fact that so many people respect George or who she is and it is such a cute book and super easy to read as well. If you are looking for a quick diverse read definitely pick this one up. I have not seen many people talk about it online and it is one of my must read .


The next book is one of my all time favorites and that is Warcross by Marie Lu. I need the next book since the day I finished Warcross. The main character is Asian american and most of the story takes place in Japan. We follow a girl name Emika and she is a bounty hunter tracking those who use the game Warcross illegally. When she is is a tough spot for money she hacks into the Warcross opening games trying to make herself some quick cash and accidentally glitches herself into the game. Instead of being arrested, she is contacted by the creator of the game and offered a trip to Japan to meet him as well as a job for finding someone who may be trying to ruin and destroy the Warcross games. This book is often compared to Ready Player One and I personally did not like that book, but I still love this one so if you are not a fan of Ready Player One still pick this one up. I love the characters and the story so much and even though it was predictable I still have no idea what is going to happen next in the second book.



A really underrated diverse book is Love Hate and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed. This book took me by surprise on how much I liked it. This book own voices following a girl who is an Indian American Muslim teen. The main character, Maya, wants to attend film school in New York while he parents want he to attend school near home, have a "practical" job, and marry a Muslim boy. One day there is a terrorist attack and Maya shares the last name with the main suspect. She is treated differently even though she never knew or saw him in her entire life. This book does deal with the topic of Islamophobia which is very relevant, sadly, in today's society. This book is own voices and talks about an important subject that more people should be educated on. I highly recommend it.


The next book is also an own voices book and I am an own voices reviewer for it and that is American Panda by Gloria Chao. Both the main character and I are a Taiwanese American. We follow Mei who is attending MIT, studying to be a doctor. She does not like anything with germs which is a big problem if she is going to be a doctor. Her parents are very strict and want the best for her, making sure she has a "practical" job and marries another Taiwanese man. Mei however has a crush on someone who is not Taiwanese. She does not want to disappoint he family as well. This book teaches a lot of people about the Taiwanese culture for those unfamiliar. I personally did not really learn that much, but I had a lot of I know what that is moments which I loved.

Those are only some diverse recommendations I have to share. There are so many more that I want to recommend but this post will be super long if I put every one of them on here. There will be a part 2 and maybe a part 3 and 4 since there are so many diverse books I need to read and so many new ones coming out! Thank you so much for reading. Day 22: Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Furyborn is a fantasy that follows two prophesied queens. One is a blood queen that would bring destruction to the kingdom, the other is the sun queen that would bring prosperity to the kingdom. We follow both of the queens and they live 1,000 years apart. I love both of their points of views although I did prefer Rielle's in the beginning. If you love fantasy you will probably really enjoy this one. It had some popular tropes in it but it also had a unique twist to it which I really enjoyed.

Day 21: George by Alex Gino

George is a middle grade book with a trans main character. Yes, this is a middle grade book featuring a trans main character. It is such a cute read and fast read that made my heart so happy. It is such an important read and especially since it is middle grade, it targets a younger audience teaching them to be more accepting from a younger age. This is one of my favorite under hyped reads and I think everyone should read it. It is the absolute perfect book to read if you need a quick read since I do remember reading it very fast.

Day 20: Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval is about a girl name Scarlett who lives with her father and sister Donatella known as Tella. Both of the sisters admired the The Caraval Master known as Legend and she and Tella always dreamed of going to Caraval. One day Scarlet gets an invitation inviting her to Caraval. With the help from a sailor both of them escape to Caraval. However Legend has decided on kidnapping Tella for the game. Suddenly the game becomes more personal to Scarlet and she now has to find her sister. I love this book so much and I really enjoy the world and the writing style.

Day 19: The Orphan Queen by Jodie Meadows

The Orphan Queen is a fantasy duology following Wilhelmina whose kingdom was conquered by the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne. This book is so good and it is a duology and a fantasy so if you want to read a fantasy and have a lot of commitment I would recommend this one. This is another one that I think is underrated and that I wish more people would read.

Day 18: Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

Forest of A Thousand Lanterns is an East Asian inspired retelling of the Evil Queen. We follow the main character Xi Feng and her journey to becoming the "Evil Queen". I really enjoyed this book and it is a recent read. I love how this is inspired by East Asian culture as I am East Asian and it was nice to see a diverse fantasy book. The main character is not likable so if you do not like reading books featuring an unlikable character this one may not be for you. I love reading from unlikable characters so it was not a problem for me. This is the perfect book for those looking for a diverse fantasy and love villain origin stories! 

Day 17: Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

Salt to the Sea is a historical fiction novel that takes place during World War II about events that are not usually talked about. We follow several refugees whose paths paths converge en route to the ship that promises salvation, the Wilhelm Gustloff. I fell in love with the writing, characters and story. It was a very informative story but it was also a gripping heartbreaking one as well. It was evident that the author did research before writing this book. I definitely think this book is under hyped. If you love historical fiction you will probably love this book.

Day 16: Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson

TW: Child Abuse

Monday's Not Coming is about a girl name Claudia who seems to be the only one who notices and cares that her friend Monday is missing. Throughout the book, we are piecing what happened to Monday through the eyes of the character. I will also say this book has a lot of different timelines. We see Claudia when Monday was still there, her when she learns that Monday's missing, and present day. If you do not like books that have that sort of jumpy timeline you may not like it. I personally loved it and I really enjoyed learning about what happened to Monday.

Day 15: They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

They Both Die at the End takes place in a world where people can now know when they are going to die. There is a company called Deathcast who calls people on the day they are going to die telling them that they are going to die that day. The main characters Rufus and Mateo both get the call. They use the app Last Friend, which lets people meet others who are also going to die that day, and they meet and spend their last day together. This is a sad book as you can tell by the title but I really did enjoy it. I know I lot of people cried while reading this book (I did not but I rarely cry while reading) so if you are looking for a book that would make you cry you may want to give this a try!

Day 14: Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Rebel of the Sands is a fantasy book that follows a girl name Amani who is a who is a really good sharpshooter. She always wanted to escape the dustwalk and the perfect opportunity comes and she ends up on this amazing adventure. This book is really short and is a fantasy so it is a very quick read for fantasy lovers that need to catch up on their reading challenge. I will say that if you are a plot driven reader you may not like this book that much since the plot is not the strongest but still loved since the world is amazing and the characters are great!

Day 13: Geekerella by Ashley Poston

Geekerella is the perfect book for fangirls and boys. This is a retelling of Cinderella following a girl name Elle who is a huge fangirl of a fandom called Starfield (which is sort of the Star Wars of that world). She is also the creator of a very popular blog about the fandom. One day there is a reboot movie of Starfield and the main character is going to be played by Darien who is someone that Elle and a bunch of other people of the fandom disapprove of but Darien is actually a a huge fan of Starfield and knows a lot about it. This book is so cute and has so many elements of Cinderella and is one of the best contemporaries and retellings that I have read.




Day 12: One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

We are halfway through! One of Us is Lying is about five students that went into detention and only four came out alive. It is a who done it sort of story. During the story, we follow the four currently alive characters to try to figure out who killed him. I loved the story even though I will admit, I did not like the ending at all. It was very interesting to see what was going on with each of the characters. I will say there is also not the best mental health representation in this book so please be aware of that. The story is amazing though and it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened.

Day 11: Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

Looking for a high fantasy? I would highly recommend Falling Kingdoms. It is one of my all time favorite series and I plan on rereading the entire series before tackling the last book. Falling Kingdoms takes place in 3 separate kingdoms. Two kingdoms get in some sort of quarrel which causes one of them to visit their other fellow neighboring kingdom to ask for help. This book is action packed and filled with magic. In my opinion, the books get better and better as the series continues. The characters are great and if you are looking for a book similar to Game of Thrones, you will probably enjoy this.

Day 10: Warcross by Marie Lu

Warcross was my fourth favorite book of last year so of course I had to recommend it. I still need to read Wildcard. This year I have been terrible with new releases. This books follows a girl name Emika who is a bounty hunter, tracking down the people who use Warcross illegally. When money comes short she decides to hack into the Warcross opening games and accidentally glitches herself into the game and instead of being punished she is invited to Japan and offered a job by the creator of Warcross to track down the person who is trying to damage Warcross.

Day 9: Love, Hate, and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

Love, Hate, and Other Filters is an own voices novel following a girl name Maya who is Indian American. Her parents want her to go to a local college near home and study something "practical", while Maya wants to attend film school in NYC. There is a terrorist attack that happened near where they live and the main suspects shares the last name as Maya. People start treating her differently even though she never met nor is related to this man. This book tackles the subject of Islamaphobia which is a very relevant topic in today's society. This was one of the most surprising reads I have read this year (in a good way).

Day 8: Invictus by Ryan Graudin

Invictus is a time travel book following a boy name Farway who was born outside of time. During the heist of the sinking Titanic he meets a girl who is always one step ahead of him and leads Far and his team to the frightening truth. I love the Invictus crew and there is also a red panda in this book who is adorable. The crew had such an amazing friendship and I did enjoy it so much more than I thought I would! If you are looking for a book with time travel and a great cast of characters you may enjoy this one.

Day 7: Renegade by Marissa Meyer

Renegades takes place in a world where there are heroes called the Renegades and villains called Anarchist. Both have powers. We follow two characters. Nova who is an Anarchist and absolutely hates the Renegades and Adrian who is a Renegade and believes in justice. So basically this is a superhero story and if you are a fan of Marvel I would highly recommend it. It is the only book I ever read that had a superhero and villain type of feel! Also one of my new all time favorites. (Still need to read book 2 but I have not been disappointed by a Marissa Meyer book yet and I have read all of them but the last Lunar Chronicle graphic novel!)

Day 6: Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

TW: Murder, blood
Stalking Jack the Ripper follows a girl name Audrey Rose who is very interesting in forensic studies. She lives during a time where women are not really allowed to study it. She works with her uncle and Thomas Cresswell. Audrey Rose lives in London during the time of the Jack the Ripper killings and naturally gets very invested in the murders and tries to figure out who the murderer is. There is a mystery element in this book and also this book introduces one of the most swoon worthy love interests that I have read in awhile and I actually ship the two characters together! I would say if you are a Halloween lover you may want to save this read for next Halloween! (Have not read book 3 yet)

Day 5: American Panda by Gloria Chao

American Panda follows a Taiwanese American girl name Mei whose parents want her to be a doctor, but Mei is a germophobe. She is always trying to please her parents. She is attending MIT to become a doctor and along the way she finds herself falling for a Japanese boy name Darren who is not Taiwanese which means that her parents would never approve by him. She reconnects to her brother who was estranged from the family for dating an un family approved women and learns she needs to start making her own choices. This book is an own voices book.

Day 4: A List of Cages by Robin Roe

TW: Child abuse

A List of Cages is an under hyped book. It is about a boy name Adam who takes an elective to be serving aid to his school's physiologists. One day he is asked to find a child who keeps dodging her and he finds that that boy is Julian, his former foster brother. Adam is excited to see Julian again. As they get to know each other more once again, he learns that Julian is hiding something and he wants to help him. I really enjoyed this book even though it is a hard hitting story. The author seems very informed about the subject and it is clear research was done when writing it.

Day 3: Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

This book is about Alosa who is the daughter of the pirate king who is sent on a misson. She gets herself purposely captured to try to find the second piece of an ancient map that would lead them to find the legendary treasure. I love the banter between Alosa and the other character Riden so much and it made the books such a fun read. This is also a duology (still need to read book 2) so there is not a lot of commitment. I loved it so much and a perfect book to read when you are slumpy and not in the mood for contemporary.

Day 2: The Thousandth Floor by Katharine Mcgee

This book takes place in futuristic New York where people now live in a thousand floor building. The more wealthy you are, the higher up you live in the tower. We follow 5 different points of views and each person has their own secrets. I will admit this book is not for everyone but if you are looking for a book filled with drama you probably will enjoy it more. Very drama filled but also very addicting. All the books in the trilogy are released already and I have read all the books and I did enjoy them all1

Day 1: The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan

TW: Depression, Suicide

The Astonishing Color of After is about a girl name Leigh and when her mother commits suicide she is convinced she turned into a bird. Leigh travels to Taiwan to visit her grandparents who she never met before trying to piece together why her mother died. Leigh is half Taiwanese and half white. This is a own voices book. Even though it deals with a heavy topic, I still really enjoyed it. I am a own voices reviewer for the Taiwanese representation as well. If you love books dealing with heavy topics you will probably really enjoy this one. 

Winter Book Recommendations

Since it is winter time I thought I would share some books that I think are perfect to read during this season. In the winter time I personally tend to read more fantasy books than the other genres. I do find that I enjoy reading historical fiction books more in the winter time. Ido recommend Harry Potter but I won't talk about it in this post because most of you probably already read it.


The first book series I have to recommend is the Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes. This series is a high fantasy series. It is often compared and said to be the YA version of Game of Thrones and I do see the comparison. Falling Kingdoms is the first book in this series and it takes place in Mytica where there are 3 kingdoms. we follow the point of view of several of the characters who live in the kingdoms. The last book, Immortal Reign, comes out in February. If you do like this series Rhodes also has another series out called the Book of Spirits and Thieves and it also takes place in the world of Mytica. It also doesn't matter which series you read first.



The next book or trilogy that I recommend I have only read the first two book but I really enjoyed them and that is A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. This is an adult fantasy novel where there are basically parallel Londons. We have Grey London, Red London, White London, and Black London. People called Antari are able to travel between Londons and our main character Kell is one of them. Kell is from Red London and he smuggles things between Londons. We also have another character named Lila who is from Grey London and she is one of my all time favorite characters ever. As I said in the winter time I prefer to read fantasy books in the winter time so you will probably notice most of the books will be fantasy books.



The next series is a series that I am currently rereading, or at least when I am writing this review and that is Cinder by Marissa Meyer which is the first book in the Lunar Chronicles series. Cinder is a fairytale retelling of Cinderella and it is also a science fiction book. In the world there is a deadly disease with no cure spreading, there are Lunars (moon people) who live on the moon, and people who are cyborgs and our main character Cinder is one of them. Cinder is New Beijing's best mechanic. That is all you need to know before reading this book. I love this series so much and it is one of my all time favorites.



The Next book I have to recommend is Frostblood by Elly Blake. The second book Fireblood also recently came out but I haven't read it yet. The reason why I feel like Frostblood is the perfect winter read is because it takes place during the winter time and also most of the characters in this book are frostbloods. And the cover also looks wintery. We follow Ruby who is a fireblood living in a world ruled by frostbloods. Her mother is killed (says in synopsis so it is not a spoiler and it also happens in the very very beginning) and she decides to agree with a group of rebel frostblood to help overthrow the king. This book does have some tropes in it, however I still really enjoyed it and I feel like many people would too.



Another book I have to share is Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. I also do recommend her other book Between Shades of Grey but honestly I liked this one slightly more. This book is so hard to explain but basically it is a historical fiction that takes place during World War II. It follows many different character POV. Each character is from a different country. If I were to be completely honest Salt to the Sea is probably my all time favorite historical fiction book. Yes I like it more than The Book Thief. I love Sepetys' writing style and the way the story was told is so beautiful and I highly recommend this book and I feel like more people need to read it.



Overall I recommend this book to most people. The final book I am recommending is The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows. In my opinion this is an underrated duology. Yes it is a fantasy duology! Personally I found some parts of the book predictable but it didn't impact my reading experience at all. This book is about a girl named Wilhelmina and she is an orphan. Her parents were murdered and she grew up living with the Ospreys. They plan on taking her kingdom back and to do this, she and her best friend Melanie must go into the Indigo kingdom and spy on the King's plans. I haven't seen this book being talk about on booktube or seeing it in bookstagram photos. Again it is a fantasy book and I love reading fantasy in the winter time so it is the perfect time to pick it up.

Stand Alone Recommendations 1.0

Today I will be sharing with you some of my favourite stand alone books. I like stand alone books because it does not require too much commitment.

The first book I will be recommending is Since You've been gone by Morgan Matson. This book follows a girl named Emily Hughs who is shy and likes to hide behind her outgoing BFF Sloane. One day Sloane disappears and no one knew where she went. The only thing she left behind for Emily was a to-do list. Some of the list has easy things like going apple picking at night. Other things are crazy like skinny dipping. Emily believes that if she completes the list she will find Sloane. Along the way she meets new friends. I love this book and I think it is more of a summery book since it takes place during summer. I really love the story line and characters.

I also have to mention another Morgan Matson book. This one is Second Chance Summer. This book is about a girl named Taylor and her father receives unexpected news. He decides to spend the summer in their beach house. Taylor hasn't been there since she was 12 and at 17 she now has to face everything she left behind including two of her past very good friends Lucy Marino and Henry Crosby. We do get flashbacks telling us what happened. I really enjoyed this book and I love the family element in it. It added so much more to the story. Again,  I highly recommend it. 

The next book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. This is a historical fiction novel following a girl named Liesel Meminger. She lives in Germany during Word War II. As you can tell from the title, she steals books. One thing interesting is that it is narrated by death. It makes the book very unique and interesting. Death sometimes spoils parts of the book but it still is so interesting. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.

Another good book that takes place during World War II is Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. This book follows four different characters point of view from four different countries. The story is very powerful. It is so hard to explain. It has to do with getting to safety. I did love the writing style and I found the story very informative as well.

The next book is the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. In this book, the circus comes to different places and towns without any warning. The circus only opens at night. I recommend going into this book without knowing much about it. The writing style is beautiful and it is so atmospherics. It does have similarities to Caraval by Stephanie Garber and I did like it better than Caraval so if you liked Caraval I think you will enjoy this book. I do not recommend reading this during a reading slump.

 The final book I have to recommend is the Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvator. This book is told in first person by two different characters named Sean Kendrick and Kate "Puck" Connolly. They both live on an Island and every November their is a race called the Scorpio Races, where people race horses and Water Horses. Water horses eat meat and live in the water. Sean Kendrick is a returning champion and has his own reasons to win this particular race. Puck to never planned on entering the race but fate hasn't given her a choice. She is the first girl ever to enter the races.

Reading Slump Recommendations- Top 5 Wednesdays

Hi and welcome to my first recommendations post. This topic is part of the Top 5 Wednesdays. Top 5 Wednesdays was created by Lainey over at gingerreadslainey and is now hosted by Sam or at ThoughtsOnTomes.

1) The first book I have to recommend is a middle grade series which is the Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. All the books are extremely short and easy to get into and you will help you feel accomplished that you finished a book. The first book is the Seeing Stone. It follows a family that moves into their Aunt Lucinda's house. The family has three children, Mallory, and the twins Simon and Jared. None of them expect what the house it and it is full of surprised. I really enjoyed these books and it did help me get out of a slump. 

2) The next book I have recommend is a recent read for me. The Selection by Keira Cass. Again, this book is short. This book is so frustrating but so addicting. I wasn't a fan of the main character and found her annoying so if you don't like a frustrating book stear clear from this book. The Selection is about a girl named America Singer and she lives in a world where every class is distinguished by a number. A one meaning the Royal family and an eight meaning you were poor and struggling to survive. The Prince Maxon is hosting a selection (sort of like the Bachelor) and America puts her name in not expecting to be one of the 35 girls to be selected for the selection. If you like the Bachelor you probably would love this book. I am currently reading the second book, The Elite.

3) Okay this one is and Author. Kasie West. I read 2 of her books, On the Fence and The Fill in Boyfriend. Her books are cheesy romances but not sexy times romance. I feel like it is best to go into these cheesy books blind so I will leave this part here but it is cheesy and I haven't read any of her other books so I don't know if they are good. I believe I rated both of these 3/5 stars but cheesy books do help a lot in a reading slump.

4) The next one is also a middle grade series, which is The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan. The first book being the lightning thief. It is based on Greek mythology. Percy discovers that he is the son of Poseidon and leans that Zeus thinks he stole his lightning bolt. He goes on a quest to find the lightning bolt to return to him. I really enjoyed this book and it is funny so if you are looking for something easy to read and funny, this book and the entire series is perfect for you. As I mentioned before it is a middle grade novel so it should be a quick read.

5) The last book is of course the one and only The Harry Potter series. The first one being Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Do I have to explain what it is about? I am pretty sure all of you know what it is about. Just a warning though, it will pull you out of a slump and put you in one again.
