The Selection Review

Title: The Selection
Author: Kiera Cass
Date Read: 2/19/17
Rating: 3.5/5 stars

First off lets just say I did not hate this book. I thought is was enjoyable however at the same time I did not like it. And yes, the main characters name is America Singer.

This book is a dystopian novel. It takes place in a world that every class is represented by a number. If you are poor your number ins a higher number. So the ones, twos, and threes, are wealthy and every other number is not good. The main character America Singer is a five.

In this book the royal family is hosting a selection for their son Prince Maxon. America puts her name in the selection and to her surprise she is becomes one of the 35 contestant. It is sort of like the bachelor.

Yes there is a love triangle although it doesn't effect the book too much. I predict that it would have a huge affect in the next book.

Lets talk about characters. America Singer is the main character. I thought she was an okay character but I wasn't exactly too happy about her decisions sometimes throughout the book. Another character is Prince Maxon. He is one of the love interests in the book out of the two. I kind of liked him as a character. Marlee is America's friend she meets at the airport. And Aspen. America's "boyfriend". Yeah. I hate Aspen that is all I am going to say.

This book is short. I feel like if you are in a reading slump this book is perfect for you. I think I can predict the ending of the last book in the trilogy but I will also say that I am not liking the direction the book is taking.

My first impression of the book was that it has a hideous cover. I did not take this book to school because of the cover. I know you aren't suppose to judge a book by its cover, but I feel like we all do this.

Thank you for reading and goodbye non spoiler people.

***SPOILER SECTION***

Okay I was enjoying the book until Aspen showed up as a guard. I swear to god I hate it now. I feel like the author is forcing a love triangle into the book and I am not sure how I feel about it. I will finish the series though.

Anyway that is it for now. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you again in my next post!
